Description
A refreshing homemade Peach Iced Tea featuring a delicate balance of brewed tea, sweet peach syrup, and frozen peaches for a perfect summer beverage.
Ingredients
Scale
Tea
- 4 cups water
- 1 family size tea bag
Peach Syrup
- 1 cup water
- ¾ cup sugar
- ¾ cup honey
- 2 cups frozen peaches, thawed and pureed (or fresh peeled and sliced peaches)
For Serving
- 2 cups frozen peaches (do not thaw)
- Ice as needed
Instructions
- Prepare the Tea: Bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Remove from heat, add the tea bag, and steep for 5 minutes. Pour the brewed tea into a 2-quart pitcher and set aside.
- Make the Peach Syrup: In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup water, sugar, and honey. Bring to a boil while stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved. Add the pureed peaches and return to a low boil. Remove from heat and let cool.
- Strain the Syrup: Pour the peach mixture through a mesh sieve held over a bowl, pressing the peaches to extract as much juice as possible. Discard the pulp.
- Mix Peach Tea: Add the peach syrup to the brewed tea, tasting as you go, until reaching your desired sweetness. Generally, 1 to 2 cups of syrup for 4 cups of tea yields a pleasant sweetness.
- Serve: Divide the frozen peaches among 4 glasses, add ice, and pour the peach tea over the peaches and ice. Stir gently before drinking.
- Storage: Refrigerate any leftover peach syrup and brewed tea separately for up to a week.
Notes
- Frozen peaches work well and provide convenience when fresh peaches are unavailable.
- Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less peach syrup according to taste.
- Leftover tea and syrup should be stored in the refrigerator to maintain freshness.
- For a single 8-ounce serving, add ¼ to ½ cup of peach syrup.
- If using fresh peaches for serving, slice and freeze them ahead of time on a parchment-lined pan.
