Description

The Dirty Snowman is a decadent adult hot chocolate cocktail combining rich vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup, chocolate sprinkles, Kahlua, and dark creme de cacao liqueur, topped with whipped cream and optional garnishes, perfect for a cozy, indulgent treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Drink Base

  • 1 tablespoon chocolate syrup
  • 1 tablespoon chocolate sprinkles
  • ½ cup vanilla ice cream (1 scoop)
  • ¼ cup Kahlua
  • 1 tablespoon dark creme de cacao liqueur
  • 1 cup hot chocolate

Garnishes

  • Whipped cream
  • Mini chocolate chips (optional)
  • Coarse sanding sugar (optional)
  • Additional chocolate syrup (optional)
  • Additional chocolate sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Rim: Place chocolate syrup on a small plate. Turn the glass or mug upside down and dip the rim into the chocolate syrup to coat it evenly.
  2. Coat Rim with Sprinkles: Immediately dip the syrup-coated rim into a shallow tray of chocolate sprinkles until it is fully coated for a decorative and flavorful edge.
  3. Add Ice Cream: Place one scoop (½ cup) of vanilla ice cream into the prepared glass or mug as the creamy base of the drink.
  4. Pour Liquors: Add ¼ cup of Kahlua and 1 tablespoon of dark creme de cacao liqueur over the ice cream to infuse the drink with a rich coffee-chocolate flavor.
  5. Add Hot Chocolate: Pour 1 cup of hot chocolate over the ice cream and liqueurs gently, allowing the ice cream to melt slightly and blend.
  6. Top with Whipped Cream: Finish by topping the drink with whipped cream and garnishing with additional mini chocolate chips, coarse sanding sugar, chocolate syrup, or chocolate sprinkles as desired.

Notes

  • Prepare the drink just before serving to ensure the ice cream remains creamy and the garnishes stay fresh.
  • The hot chocolate and liquor amounts can be increased and premixed, but always pour over individual glasses with ice cream scoop to maintain freshness and presentation.
  • Feel free to experiment with your favorite liquors such as rum, coconut rum, Bailey’s Irish Cream, or chocolate vodka for varied flavors.
  • You can substitute chocolate ice cream or combine it with vanilla ice cream for a richer chocolate taste.
  • The drink is rich but balanced; adjust the liquor quantity to your preference as the ice cream and hot chocolate support stronger alcohol flavors.
  • Use a high-quality hot chocolate mix or prepare from scratch, like Hershey’s hot cocoa, for the best taste.
