Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 1 head cauliflower chopped into small florets (about 3 cups)
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup Italian breadcrumbs
- ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1 large egg
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- Olive oil for frying
- Chopped green onions for garnish
Instructions
- Steam Cauliflower: Bring a large pot of water to a boil and steam the chopped cauliflower florets for 10 minutes until tender but not mushy. Drain well and allow to cool slightly before mashing.
- Mash Cauliflower: In a large bowl, mash the steamed cauliflower with a fork or potato masher until slightly chunky to retain some texture.
- Mix Ingredients: Add all-purpose flour, Italian breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, grated parmesan cheese, egg, salt, and black pepper to the mashed cauliflower. Stir thoroughly until the mixture is well combined.
- Form Patties: Shape the mixture into small, uniform patties to ensure even cooking.
- Fry Patties: Heat a generous amount of olive oil in a skillet over medium-low heat. Fry the patties in batches for 8 minutes on each side until they are golden brown and crispy. Add more oil as needed between batches.
- Garnish and Serve: Once cooked, garnish the fritters with chopped green onions and serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
- Reheat leftover fritters in a skillet or air fryer for a crispy texture.
- You can substitute Italian breadcrumbs with gluten-free breadcrumbs to make the recipe gluten-free.
- For a vegetarian option, ensure the cheese and egg are sourced accordingly.
- Using medium-low heat prevents burning the fritters while allowing them to cook through evenly.
