Description

These crispy and flavorful cauliflower fritters are a delicious way to enjoy a healthy vegetable snack or appetizer. Made with steamed cauliflower, parmesan cheese, and Italian breadcrumbs, they’re pan-fried to golden perfection and garnished with fresh green onions. Perfect as a side dish or a light meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 head cauliflower chopped into small florets (about 3 cups)
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup Italian breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • Olive oil for frying
  • Chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Steam Cauliflower: Bring a large pot of water to a boil and steam the chopped cauliflower florets for 10 minutes until tender but not mushy. Drain well and allow to cool slightly before mashing.
  2. Mash Cauliflower: In a large bowl, mash the steamed cauliflower with a fork or potato masher until slightly chunky to retain some texture.
  3. Mix Ingredients: Add all-purpose flour, Italian breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, grated parmesan cheese, egg, salt, and black pepper to the mashed cauliflower. Stir thoroughly until the mixture is well combined.
  4. Form Patties: Shape the mixture into small, uniform patties to ensure even cooking.
  5. Fry Patties: Heat a generous amount of olive oil in a skillet over medium-low heat. Fry the patties in batches for 8 minutes on each side until they are golden brown and crispy. Add more oil as needed between batches.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Once cooked, garnish the fritters with chopped green onions and serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
  • Reheat leftover fritters in a skillet or air fryer for a crispy texture.
  • You can substitute Italian breadcrumbs with gluten-free breadcrumbs to make the recipe gluten-free.
  • For a vegetarian option, ensure the cheese and egg are sourced accordingly.
  • Using medium-low heat prevents burning the fritters while allowing them to cook through evenly.
