Units Scale

Ingredients

  • 2 large bananas
  • 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt
  • 24 mini chocolate chips
  • 8 popsicle sticks

Instructions

  1. Prepare the baking sheet: Line your baking sheet with parchment paper or a Silpat mat to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
  2. Slice the bananas: Peel the bananas and cut each one in half. Then cut each half crosswise to get 8 equal pieces of banana total.
  3. Insert popsicle sticks: Carefully insert a popsicle stick into the bottom of each banana piece, making sure they are secure for dipping.
  4. Freeze the bananas: Place the banana pieces on the prepared baking sheet and freeze for 30 minutes to 1 hour, or until completely frozen through.
  5. Dip in yogurt: Pour the vanilla yogurt into a tall glass or cup. Dip each frozen banana piece fully into the yogurt to coat it evenly.
  6. Add chocolate chip features: Place the yogurt-coated banana back on the baking sheet and quickly press 3 mini chocolate chips onto each piece to create eyes and a mouth for the ghost faces.
  7. Final freeze: Return the banana ghosts to the freezer for an additional 20 minutes to let the yogurt coating set firmly.
  8. Serve or store: Enjoy these frozen ghost bananas immediately or transfer them to an airtight container and keep in the freezer for up to 2 months for a fun and healthy snack anytime.

Notes

  • Use vanilla yogurt that is thick enough to coat the bananas well; Greek yogurt works great if slightly thinned.
  • If popsicle sticks are not available, wooden skewers or small sturdy sticks can be substituted.
  • Make sure bananas are fully frozen before dipping to prevent the yogurt from melting quickly.
  • For extra festive fun, consider adding edible eyes or using different colored yogurt for coating.
  • Store the frozen bananas in a single layer in the freezer to prevent sticking.
