Description

A refreshing and indulgent Apple Cider Float combining creamy vanilla bean ice cream with crisp apple cider, garnished with aromatic cinnamon and star anise for a delightful autumn-inspired treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Ice Cream and Cider

  • 1 cup vanilla bean ice cream (8 ounces)
  • 1 cup cold apple cider or sparkling apple cider

Garnishes

  • Red apple slices
  • Cinnamon stick
  • Whole star anise
  • Cinnamon sugar (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Glass: Choose a tall glass and add the vanilla bean ice cream, filling it about two-thirds full to allow room for the cider.
  2. Add Cider: Slowly pour the cold apple cider or sparkling apple cider over the ice cream, taking care to pour gently if using sparkling to minimize foam overflow.
  3. Garnish: Decorate the float with an apple fan made from thinly sliced red apples, insert a cinnamon stick and a whole star anise, then sprinkle cinnamon sugar over and down the side of the glass for added flavor and presentation.
  4. Serve: Serve immediately to enjoy the perfect texture and combination of flavors.

Notes

  • Do not store assembled floats as ice cream melts and texture suffers; serve immediately for best results.
  • Prepare garnishes and chill cider and glasses ahead of time to streamline assembly before serving.
  • To create an apple fan, slice thin even apple slices, stack, then fan out the top and secure with a cocktail pick.
  • Use longer cinnamon sticks for tall glasses and shorter ones for smaller cups for better presentation.
  • Try sparkling or still cider based on your preference; both work beautifully.
  • For an adult version, add a splash of spiced rum, bourbon, or Fireball before pouring cider.
  • Enhance with whipped cream, caramel drizzle, a pinch of nutmeg, or even a mini donut garnish.
