Ingredients
Scale
Marinade Ingredients
- 1 cup soy sauce
- 1 cup water
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup Worcestershire sauce
- 3 tablespoons white distilled vinegar
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon minced ginger
- 2 teaspoons onion powder
Chicken
- 2-3 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts or thighs
Instructions
- Prepare Marinade: Add the soy sauce, water, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, white distilled vinegar, minced garlic, minced ginger, and onion powder to a large zip-top bag and mix well to combine all the ingredients thoroughly.
- Pound Chicken: Pound the chicken breasts or thighs to an even thickness to ensure they cook evenly throughout.
- Marinate Chicken: Place the pounded chicken into the marinade bag, press out most of the air, seal it tightly, and smoosh the bag around to coat the chicken evenly with the marinade. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, preferably between 4 to 8 hours, for best flavor.
- Preheat Air Fryer: Remove the chicken from the marinade, discard the leftover marinade, and lightly oil the air fryer basket to prevent sticking.
- Air Fry Chicken: Arrange the chicken in a single layer inside the air fryer basket, working in batches if necessary. Air fry at 390 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 minutes or until the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit using a meat thermometer.
- Rest and Serve: Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes after cooking to allow juices to redistribute before serving.
Notes
- Pound out the chicken first to ensure that it cooks evenly.
- You can marinate the chicken for as little as 30 minutes, but preferably 4 to 8 hours to get the best results.
- Use a meat thermometer to make sure the chicken reaches a safe internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
- The nutrition information includes the whole marinade, but most of it is discarded before cooking, so the values may be overstated.
- Oiling the air fryer basket helps prevent the chicken from sticking during cooking.
